… at the end of an eventful year to all rally teams, to our business partners and sponsors, to our hosts in Tunisia and, of course, to the many friends and supporters for the good partnership, the great support and the participation in our motorsport events at home and abroad.
We are already looking forward to an exciting year 2017 and a close cooperation again.
Since the first “El Chott” 1981 the participants have changed their demands on the rally. The idea of adventure is no longer in the foreground. Current models of “soft” off-road vehicles require modified track layouts. And also drivers on prototypes, developed for large marathon events, prefer rather fast pistes than long and demanding dunes crossings.
In this sense, we will modernize the rally El Chott. For 2017, profound changes in the course of the routes are planned. We will reduce the quota of dunes-kilometers. Remaining dune crossings will be simplified and the possible average speeds will be increased. Exit options for rookies and series cars, with separate evaluation as before, are still remaining.
As in the last years we offer at the end of the year 2016 again an additional Xmas discount on the early-booker participation fee of rally El Chott and El Chott PowerWeek 2017.

Dear participants, ORGA employees and friends of the rally El Chott,
as in the last few years, there will be again a participants meeting in the beginning of 2017 – traditionally in the hotel “Eisenacher Haus” in the Rhön.
In addition to looking back on the 2016 rally, the issue of security in Tunisia is on the agenda as always. And we will also explain in detail the changes in regulations and planned rally organisation. A first preview of the planned rally stages for 2017 is also available.

Today, almost four weeks after the end of the rally, the following conclusion is to be drawn:
A warm welcome by the CTN management and the captain of the “Carthage” as well as the fast customs clearance in Tunis showed us how urgently European travel groups are needed for the Tunisian tourism. Also in all hotels and camps we were friendly received as in the years before. Here and there it seemed as if the Tunisians belive, after our rally also all other individual-tourists will come back in large numbers. It would be desirable for all those who make money with the Sahara tourists, directly or indirectly.
Whether in the cities or the villages on the rally track, there were no incidents and we felt welcome at any time and everywhere – and above all safe.
To the participants in competition the rally offered till the prizegiving ceremonie in Hammamet demanding and varied routes and a well-functioning organization. And also the “desert friends” in the two tourist groups have experienced something and seen a lot from the country.
Nevertheless, there were so few participants on El Chott as never before. What is the reason for that? We want to organize the event in the next years also – for you, for us and for the Tunisians. Some changes in the route planning and the rally regulations are already planned.
But especially important is your feedback. What changes do you expect? How can we increase the attractiveness of the rally?
