As a guest from Tunisia, we expect Jamel Debabi. He will bring us the latest informations from our host country.

Today again, as in the last years, the reference to the required safety equipment according to the regulations. Required for all competition vehicles:  

1. The GPS device for the own navigation is optional chooseable. Participants devices will be not read out.  Recording the track is not so prescribed. The rally-organization is working with Garmin devices. The datas which we will transfer (GPS waypoints and routes) are gdb- or gpx- files. The participant is responsible for the appropriate data cable.
2. For the recording of the daily track, the organizers give a special GPS logger. This will be mounted by the ORGA-personnel in / on the vehicle. It is not allowed to change the attachment of the logger or to open the case.
3. The installation kit for the EXPLONA tracking system must be mounted before the technical scrutineering, corresponding to installation instruction. The devices must be ordered no later than 18th of September 2012
4. Distress signal red – Fireworks and military signal rockets are not allowed! We recommend NICO red and NICO launch device. To order for example from our partner RM Rallyetec -> http://rm-rallye-tec.de/Not_-_Signale/not_-_signale.html

One week after the conclusion of the exhibition, we have completed the RTG12.1 meantime, I can summarize as follows:

The “Abenteur & Allrad 2012” was a great experience, in many ways.

At our stand we were able to receive a large number of partners and rally participants to interesting conversations. In addition to the ElChott-presentation our Polish partner of EXPLONA have presented their tracking system again. And for the first time were there the “parents” of the Teambuctou Classic Rally, Uta Baier and Saeb Ziegler.

Many good friends have visited us. Two of them, Michaela and Klaus, also exhibitors (ORMS), have even got married at the exebition.

And of course, we presented our concept many interested guests. Some thought probably, it is really good. Beside of some commitments for participation I received even filled out and signed entry forms. One from the Czech Dakar participant Jan Veselý (Yamaha).

Between 7th and 10th of June 2012 the largest off-road show in Europe will take place in Bad Kissingen.

In total, more than 2,500 road book pictures on 260 pages!

Related to this is the first of several planned improvements:

• For classes E1 – E4 the road books will prepared as a role, not as a book.
• In addition to the transfer of GPS waypoints (coordinates) prepared routes for each day are available upon request.

The previously announced GPS recorder will come. Unfortunately we have not found a standard GPS logger that met our requirements. Therefore, the company EXPLONA has developed a GPS recorder that is tailored to the required use:

• dust and water protected
• independent power supply for the entire duration of rally
• can not be manipulated / no data upload possible
• automatic personalization of the read out data

This is the basis of a fair evaluation; the same hardware for all participants, independent of individually user errors.

Also new in 2012:

• European catering service (breakfast / dinner, small snacks) in all camps
• A whole rest day – to bring late teams back to the main field, to perform necessary repairs and to allow a small break for organizations and service employees.

Not new, but still worth mentioning:

• All camps are reachable for service without 4×4.
• The special stages in the dunes have exit opportunities before particularly difficult passages.
• The EXPLONA tracking system shows the location of each participant at any time on the screen. It allows to the teams to send an emergency call in case of accident or other emergency case. All important information, such as race number and coordinates, will automaticly submitted to the base station and from there to the sweeper truck or to the rescue service.
