With wonderful late summer weather on Saturday afternoon, participants and ORGA staff from across Germany and Austria met in the idyllic mountain hotel “Eisenacher Haus” in the Rhön. Before the official part of the rally meeting many participants used the opportunity to talk in the beer garden.
After handing over of the rally shields, race numbers and sponsors stickers, the conference room began to fill. Many familiar faces, but also some new and especially gratifying, very young participants, had arrived. After a few organizational notes, detailed information to the current security situation in Tunisia were reported. This was especially the impressions from the pre-tour, from the two racing-aid events and experiences during private trips and, of course, the observations of our partners in Tunisia. Following was the detailed presentation of the individual provided special stages, Hotels, Camps, and other venues and rally datas.
After dinner we had then ample opportunity for technical discussions. Last transportation and service alliances has been connected, and many were with his mind already in the dunes of the southern Tunisia.

Today again, the reference to the required safety equipment according to the regulations. Required for all competition vehicles:
- Garmin GPS or Garmin-compatible GPS device. The devices must be able to save the entire track of a day. It must be able to upload and download datas by laptop. The participant is responsible for the appropriate data cable.
- Distress signal red – Fireworks and military signal rockets are not allowed! We recommend NICO red and NICO launch device. Back from Tunisia, I have only good things to report: the relief goods of Racing Aid II, over 50 tons of food, clothing, hygiene items, medicines and medical equipment, are handed over. A large part of it was transported by truck to Libya, because many refugees are back in here home country. An encouraging development that stabilizes the situation in Libya. And the Tunisian border region can come back to a normal public life. A normality that we have otherwise seen during our entire trip. And which incorrect informations we get still in Europe about the security situation in Tunisia is to recognize in the following example: “Unrest in Douz have led to the imposition of a curfew:” In a personal conversation with the mayor of Douz he has informed us of this: “In family disputes between service-station operators, there was property damage. It is not political and there is no curfew and were not there before.” For details of our stay in Tunisia click here ->
And a summary of our impressions during the relief effort I will give in our pre-meeting on 24th September 2011. The Rally 2011 will be presented in detail, timetable and stages. Beginning: 5.00 pm. in the hotel Eisenacher Haus.

Since the installation-kits (power cable, GPS- and Iridium satellite antenna) are adjusted for safe operation of the vehicle, they can not handed over with the tracking devices in Genova. Tracking system and installation-kit are mandatory for all competition vehicles. Please order the installation-kits as soon as possible.
