Transportation service: Fly and ride …

… the organizer’s transport service especially for enduro, quad and ATV drivers who want to take part in the rally without a service team – in 2023 a different team but same service.

This year Marcus Paul will offer the transport service on behalf of the organizer. Up to 4 people, a larger number of C80 boxes and 5 to 6 motorcycles can be accommodated on his MAN, which has been specially prepared for off-road tours and rally service.

  • transport of vehicles as well as luggage, tools and spare parts from Europe to Tunisia and back
  • transporting luggage, tools and spare parts from one paddock to the next
  • vehicle presentation for the technical inspection in Tortona
  • the driver can fly individually to Tunisia* and pick up his vehicle at the hotel on the evening before the rally begins
  • after the end of the rally, we will load the vehicle and transport it back to Europe
  • the participant can fly homewards** individual

* For arrival we recommend the airport Monastir, closest to the hotel in Mahdia

** Departure after the rally from Tunis

Of course, we also organize baggage, tools and spare part transport for participants of all other classes.

If possible, luggage, tools and spare parts should be stowed in the C80-tin-boxes (LxWxH = 80x45x37cm) prescribed for FIA events, as the storage and lashing system of the MAN is based on these dimensions. Please inquire beforehand for other dimensions or goods to be transported.

Booking and payment of transport capacity takes place directly with the organizer. Please register your need early / all prices can be found here: -> form

Delivery before and collection after the rally can take place in the Ulm area or at the hotel in Tortona (place of the technical inspection) after prior appointment. For all related organizational questions, Marcus Paul can be reached here: +49 170 4769122 / info@race4fun.eu

Attention: Marcus only offers transport, can provide electricity, light and compressed air on the truck, but does not carry out any service activities.

France Road Book – new at the El Chott 2023

I look forward to welcoming another service team for 2023 to the rally El Chott – a French one for the first time in several years!
In addition to every conceivable service at the rally, the FRANCE ROAD BOOK team also offers various ways of preparing for the challenges of such an event.
I am particularly pleased that team boss Duong NGUYEN-KHOA will be available as a representative of the El Chott Rally to provide information to all interested French-speaking rally drivers.

New in the regulations: class for historic rally cars

As a rally organizer, we always try to respond to the wishes of our participants and to take current developments in the scene into account.

On the one hand, we have to acknowledge that it is becoming increasingly difficult to prepare current vehicle models for events like ours. On the other hand, there are a number of off-road enthusiasts whose rally cars from past years are no longer competitive in the vehicle classes at current events. But exactly these vehicles are the cars that have made the myth of the “marathon rally” real for decades – the dream of adventure, of experiencing the limits of man and material up close.

Even if there will not (yet) be an “ElChott-Classic” in the future, we make it possible to take part in our events with these vehicles in a specially created class.

For this purpose, the class “CH – cars historical” was introduced in the regulations with immediate effect.

There are two basic requirements for registration in this class:

  • The production date of the vehicle must be before 01/01/1990.
  • The main components of the vehicle, such as the engine, turbocharger, transmission, axles and chassis (springs/dampers), including the permissible technical modifications, must have been available in identical construction before January 1st, 1990. In case of doubt, especially in the case of special conversions, the proof must be provided by the team.

At our events “Rallye ElChott” and “Rallye-Trail Germany”, the class CH will start together with all other 4×4 vehicles. On very long special stages or special stages that are particularly demanding due to the nature of the terrain different or shortened routes will be driven.

All details on technically permissible changes, safety regulations and mandatory and emergency equipment can be found in the regulations.

In addition to the described change in the regulations, we would like to point out that in addition to vehicles with conventional combustion engines, vehicles with alternative drives (hybrid / battery-electric / fuel cell) will also be expressly permitted in the vehicle classes CS, T2 and T1 from 2022, provided they meet all other requirements of the respective vehicle class.

The rally El Chott 2020 can take place !

Back from our pre-tour, we are happy and a little proud too that we can announce: The “El Chott 2020” rally can take place in the planned period and with almost no restrictions.

  • All planned routes are checked.
  • Hotels and camps are also checked.
  • The road books will be created in the next few days.
  • Nothing stands in the way of the approval of the rally by the Tunisian authorities.

Years of continuous cooperation with the same partners always pays off, especially under difficult conditions.

Conclusion: We offer you the opportunity still in 2020 to drive a real desert rally with about 1,600 race kilometers (a total of 2,600 km).

  • as a motorsport challenge in extreme terrain
  • as a training under competitive conditions for “bigger tasks”
  • as a real “dune adventure” in our Discovery Class
  • to experience Tunisia individually in the Adventure Class
  • or just to get out in this “crazy” year

Important for your registrations:

  • deadline for the “normal booking price” until 23rd August extended
deadline for “late booking price” until 13th September extended

Current covid-19 information:

Tunisia is far less affected by the corona pandemic than Europe or neighboring countries in North Africa. In addition to the much lower travel activity of the Tunisians, the main reason for this is the consistent action of the government. All measures such as travel and moving restrictions, distance rules or the wearing of mouth / nose protection were implemented nationwide at an early stage. Similar to ours, the hygiene measures are still relevant. All other restrictions have since been canceled. In the rural regions of the Tunisian south or in the desert itself, i.e. where the rally takes place, the number of infected people is so low that there is almost no risk of infection.

The consequences of the global pandemic, the de facto collapse of tourism, hit Tunisia as a classic holiday destination all the harder.

As things stand at the moment, there are no requirements for most European when entering Tunisia. If the number of new infections in the country increases, a negative test to be shown is under discussion. With us, Tunisia is NOT classified as a risk area. Accordingly, no special requirements are to be expected also on the return journey.
